Personal Profile
I'm 25 years old, and I live near the Giants Causeway in Co. Antrim. I've always had a keen interest in art. After A-levels I went to Limavady College to do a foundation year in Art & Design. I specialised in Graphic Design and decided to study this at University.
I graduated in 2008 from Nottingham Trent with a BA Honours in Graphic Design. In my final year, one of my projects was called ‘A Grand Day Out’. I chose the North Coast as my subject, and literally went on 'A Grand Day Out'. As part of my research I collected current postcards, photographs and paintings of the North Coast. I found the material to be quite traditional, and that there was very little contemporary work out there. The style of work is something that I've been developing over the last 7 years and I felt it suited the project.
After graduation I had two exhibitions in London, and as a result of these I had work featured in The Big Book of Contemporary Illustration and Design Week. I decided to move home in October 2008 to develop the Northern Ireland series, using the Grand Day Out project as a basis for the range.
Opposite are the six original prints, which I used as my final piece in Nottingham.
Giants Causeway
Whitepark Bay
Dunluce Castle
Carrick-a-rede
Mussenden Temple
Old Bushmills Distillery
I have now extended the range to 49 prints, featuring various places of interest throughout Northern Ireland.
