Boa Island

The largest island on Lough Erne, in County Fermanagh. The figure depicted in this print is known as a Janus-figure after the two headed Roman god of doorways and passages ‘Janus’, as celebrated in Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘January God’, though there is no real connection. It is more likely to be a depiction of a Celtic deity.
