Carrickfergus Castle
A Norman castle built in 1177 by John De Courcy, and active right up until the Second World War. Besieged by Scots, Irish, English and French in its long history, it still stands strong (only having been rebuilt three times) just a few miles outside Belfast on the shore of Belfast Lough.
